Review for Author Anna Godbersen

The Luxe is a young adult novel by author Anna Godbersen published in 2007. It follows the lives of Manhattan's upper class in 1899. The book begins with by introducing two sister's of the elite, one of whomis said to have died after being thrown from her friend's carriage into the Hudson River. What a start, right? There are many plot twists in this novel that keep you want to keep reading. The reader can tell that Godbersen did her research of the late 1800's/early 1900's New York elite very well. My suggestion to you all is to read this novel if you are willing to do some research of your own. To fully grasp what Godbersen is trying to convey in her book, you must be able to understand some of the refrences she makes about popular things during that era. True, they aren't central to the plot, but it doesn't hurt to understand what the character's are actually saying either.
