Psssst...I'm back! With a Giveaway!

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've updated this blog, however, it was a much needed break. A lot has changed within the past year and I decided that I first needed to focus on other things before I locked myself up in my room and read for hours, which was the norm for me. Having said that, recently I felt as though I needed to get back into this. Reading has always been very important to me for as long as I can remember, and since I love this blog so much, and you all, I decided that it was finally time to come back. Now, I have to give credit to my loved ones, they confirmed that reading and reviewing books once again is a good idea, so I said "what the heck, why not?", and HERE I AM once again!

And now probably what you all have been waiting for...

But when her carriage overturns near the East River, the girl whose glittering life lit up the city's gossip pages is swallowed by the rough current. As all of New York grieves, some begin to wonder whether life at the top proved too much for this ethereal beauty, or if, perhaps, someone wanted to see Manhattan's most celebrated daughter disappear...In a world of luxury and deception, where appearance matters above everything and breaking the social code means running the risk of being ostracized forever, five teenagers lead dangerously scandalous lives. Waiting on Wednesday #4

This is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's WoW is:
Through to You
By: Emily Hainsworth
Publication Date: October 02, 2012
From Goodreads:
Through to YouCamden Pike has been grief-stricken since his girlfriend, Viv, died. Viv was the last good thing in his life: helping him rebuild his identity after a career-ending football injury, picking up the pieces when his home life shattered, and healing his pain long after the meds wore off. And now, he’d give anything for one more glimpse of her. But when Cam makes a visit to the site of Viv’s deadly car accident, he sees some kind of apparition. And it isn’t Viv.

The apparition’s name is Nina, and she’s not a ghost. She’s a girl from a parallel world, and in this world, Viv is still alive. Cam can’t believe his wildest dreams have come true. All he can focus on is getting his girlfriend back, no matter the cost. But things are different in this other world: Viv and Cam have both made very different choices, things between them have changed in unexpected ways, and Viv isn’t the same girl he remembers. Nina is keeping some dangerous secrets, too, and the window between the worlds is shrinking every day. As Cam comes to terms with who this Viv has become and the part Nina played in his parallel story, he’s forced to choose—stay with Viv or let her go—before the window closes between them once and for all.

My thoughts:
This is SO going on my wishlist! I'm a sucker for YA romance, everyone knows that, but this story just seems to put all that aside and puts it in full suspense mode! The whole "window closing" theme is just so intriguing. I can't wait to read this and find out what Cam's decision will be! Oh, and psst, I have a soft spot for guys named Cam, hehe. (;

Book Review TIME BETWEEN US

Title: Time Between Us
Author: Tamara Ireland Stone
Publication Date: October 2012
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Format I Read It In: ARC provided by publisher

Blurb: Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility. As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate—and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

My thoughts: Wow, so where to start? I came across this book one day while surfing the book blogging world and right away, I made it my WoW pick for the week, which can be found here. I fell in love with the cover (so pretty!) and when I went on to read more about it on Goodreads, I decided that this was a book I absolutely had to read! After all, Anna and I have some wicked freaky similarities. She's a cross country/track runner, so am I, plus she lives in suburban Chicago just like me! Weird, but super cool! Anyways, even if Anna and I weren't so similar, I would have still fallen head over heels for this book. The storyline is just so refreshing! I am a big fan of urban fantasy AND contemporary YA lit, but some of the books I see on shelves nowadays always seem to be spin-offs or just have too many similarities to other books. This wasn't the case with Time Between Us. Though it did have some classic takes on love, relationships, and friendship, it also touched on a mostly un-entered ground for YA lit, time travel. Time travel can be difficult to write about, the only other story that comes to mind being The Time Traveler's Wife, however Tamara Ireland Stone did a fantastic job with it! She developed the story so artfully that you wouldn't dream to think that this is her debut. All of her characters, down to the most seemingly insignificant ones, had a strong, independent voice. The plot was just tempting and kept me flipping through the pages all the way to the end which I must add was completely satisfying. It always bothers me when a book ends in such a way that makes me feel like it lacks something, but this was not the case with Time Between Us. I would suggest everyone to pick this one up. It is a refreshing read for the summer!

Waiting on Wednesday #3

This is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This weeks WoW is:

Time Between Us

Publication Date: October 09, 2012

From Barnes and Noble:

Time Between UsAnna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate—and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

 My thoughts:

Wow! That was my first thought when I read the blurb for this book. Maybe it has to do with I'm from Chicago, or maybe it has to do with Anna and I have another thing in common, we're both runners! Whatever it is, this book is definitely going on my wish list (and pre-order list too!).
