Summary: Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when a monster sandstorm arrives, along with four cloaked horsemen, Saba's world is shattered. Lugh is captured, and Saba embarks on an epic quest to get him back.
Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the world outside of desolate Silverlake, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her. So perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Saba learns about herself: she's a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. And she has the power to take down a corrupt society from the inside. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization. My Review: When I picked up this book, right off the bat I was like "Hunger Games" deja vu much? Though the book did remind me of the Hunger Games Trilogy in some ways, it still stood strong in it's own light. Saba, thankfully is a warrior women, for I am very sick of female protagonists who can't seem to do anything right let alone get a grip on themselves. Saba struck me as brave, determined, and all in all strong. You don't get to see a lot in that in YA literature. Also, though this was Moira Young's first novel it was very well written. The language was beautifully worded, but I have to admit, it did take a bit getting used to. Unlike most books, this book had no quotation marks, so you had be careful of what you took as the characters speaking with one another, and what you took as thoughts. When it ended, I was close to tears, not because I was sad or anything, but because I didn't want the book to end. I haven't read a book this empowering in a long time. All I can say is that, there better be a sequel.

  2. Umm I want this.

How soon should I read it? Like should I go out and buy it now or wait until I've plowed through the rest of my TBR review shelf? ;)
