March 31, 2011- Review for Author Sarah Weeks

This is a story that will leave you not only aching but hungry for more. So B. It by Sarah Weeks is a heartwarming novel about a journey that we all take in life, but in many different ways, the journey of self-realization. This adventurous tale tells the story of a twelve-year-old girl named Heidi, but don't be mistaken to take her for an arrogant pre-teen. Throughout the entirety of the novel, she has to deal with things that in a way make her older than many adults. Heidi lives in the town of Reno, Nevada with her mentally-disabled mother and their neighbor, Bernadette. Her mother only knows an astonishing twenty-three words including a mysterious word "soof" that no one can explain or define. Heidi doesn't know anything about her mother's past or who her father was. She feels obligated to find the answers to all her questions, and to do so, she leaves on an expedition to discover the truth. Traveling alone, Heidi finds herself in situations that a lot of us can relate to. Sarah Weeks did a great job capturing the life of an all-American child while at the same time, having her audience cling to each word on the page. For those who want a novel that is an easy-read but still remains to be heartwarming, So B. It  is a perfect pick!
